Versions

There were 2 distinct versions of Mortal Kombat 3 for the PC. The DOS and Windows versions were extremely different.

DOS

Like Mortal Kombat II for the PC, the DOS version of MK3 was built for DOS. It's graphics, sounds, and gameplay were all very similar to the arcade. The game featured multiplayer support either locally or via IPX netplay and featured CD audio and joystick support.

Windows

The Windows version of MK3 was a direct port or Mortal Kombat 3 for Playstation. Graphics, sounds and menus were essentially identical to the Playstation version.

Differences from the Arcade

DOS

  • The game featured 2 sets of sound effects. For computers with less capable sound cards, a lower quality sound set where there were few variations in voice between characters would be loaded. This set had mostly "Hay!" sound effects.
  • Being a DOS game, command line options were added for things like the unlock Robo Smoke code.
  • This version had lower quality graphics than the arcade.

Windows

  • Because this is a direct copy of MK3 for Playstation, please see the information for that version.
