Mortal Kombat II (PC)
From UltimateMK.com
Probe created a port of Mortal Kombat II for the PC (DOS) in 1993. This game is based on the arcade but does not completely reproduce arcade gameplay.
Sound
Sound in this game can be quite peculiar. Like other PC Mortal Kombat games, the game can choose different sound effects and music to use based on the type of sound card the computer has that it is playing on. On some sound cards only music is supported. On others there are music and sound effects. The game has 5 versions of each background music and uses the different versions on different soundcards. The versions are optimized to specific sound cards and the end result is they can sound very different.
Also, what sound effects are used by characters can differ depending on the sound card. For instance on a SoundBlaster Pro, almost every male character uses the same, rather high pitched sound effect for when he jumps. Also, most characters will use the same screams and grunts. It is only with a completely supported sound card that you will hear all the sound effects that the game can produce.
Graphics
This game features a Detail level setting under the options. Turning the detail down to Medium or Low turns off portions of the stages you play on. For instance, the Kombat Tomb has no back wall and the Deadpool has chains or hooks hanging down.
