Mortal Kombat Trilogy was a console-only game created by adding old characters to the gameplay engine of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. It is essentially UMK3 with new characters and moves added as well as some new limits on moves that existed in UMK3 for the purpose of balancing. However, the minor balancing done is vastly overshadowed by how unbalanced some of the new characters are.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy was also released for the PC, Sega Saturn, and Playstation, however the game is very different on those systems.

Differences from Mortal Kombat Trilogy for Playstation/PC

  • Champion Tower - On the character select screen, highlight Kano and press Down + Start to alter the Champion Tower so that you battle Khameleon, Motaro, and 8 endurance matches before battling Shao Kahn. Beating this tower allows you to access the bottom right treasure on the Shao Kahn's Treasures screen.
